I would expect a ton of backlash on it especially from Boulder county - doubt it would ever happen but who knows these days.

Privatized land is why you can't legally set foot on a few of the 14ers. I don't see how this is going to improve things...

It'll improve things for big companies because they won't have to deal with the government to harvest resources like timber. I doubt us little folk would see any benefits. If anything I see privatization of public lands decreasing back country access and limiting our say in how the land is used. If the state managed it instead of the feds, then that may work, but I'm still not sure it would mean more access to a broad range of users. I wish the Sierra Club, IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) and motorized access groups like Blue Ribbon Coalition could get along well enough to work together on stuff like this. That would be a massive and powerful lobby and if they could actually manage to talk to each other I suspect some sort of balance could be struck. On that day, though, I suspect Satan will be skating to work.

if they privatized the land how long before McMansions start popping up in every BLM/Forest area in the state? What about drilling? Logging? Fences and Do not trespass signs? Not long... and their argument to sell the land for education is ridiculous.. what is that a one time influx of cash? how long will that last.. 6 maybe 8 months? then what? We will be in the same place we are now. How about they figure out a way to solve their current problems in this state instead of trying to band aid things. Once again politicians being influenced by corp $$$$$$$$$. It's not that I agree with everything that the 99% thing that has been going on, however sometimes it seems state/fed policy has gotten to the point of "for the people" is secondary and "for the bottom line" is Primary..

Sooner or later someone is going to have to take a stand. Push Push Push..

This scares me, I don't know how many of you have visited or lived in Texas, but there are more private lands in that state than any other. I get that it isn't recreational or park land as it is mostly agricultural, but good luck finding a place with out a fence line blocking your access to anything interesting. I love our open land access and use rules. I can't imagine backcountry camping or multi-use trails surviving privatization.
