a working 3G alt
I'm trying to get an alternator warrantied, but the process is slow. I'm even starting to wonder if I'm ever going to see my old alternator again, as my last email was not responded to. If anyone has a spare 3G alternator for a stock 302 belt system (not Explorer) I'd like to get my hands on it. I don't care what pulley it has on it, I have a new pulley to install.
I don't want to spend much, as hopefully, it is a stop gap measure. If my old alt is never returned, I'll probably just buy a new one, I don't want to rely (long term) on a junk yard one with 100,000 miles, because I live & travel where there is little to no cell coverage, and tow bills can get expensive quick.
If someone is going to a junk yard and finds one I'll gladly reimburse you for time & money. I have no salvage yards available to me in Gunnison. I'll be in Denver Friday night, and on Sunday March 18th, and probably again later in March so I'd like to pick it up, instead of shipping it.
edit: If anyone has a lightly used one that they know the history of and have replaced, I wouldn't mind paying a fair price for it.

Re: a working 3G alt
Can someone tell me what years/makes/models of cars to search on car-part.com that would help me find the right alt? If I cannot locate one from a member, and I don't get mine back, I'm hoping I could pick up one from a yard on my way home Sunday March 18th, or more likely, when I come back to Denver to train for my new job. Since I won't have much time/tools/etc I'll want one I can pick up and not have to search through pull-n-save type places.
Thanks Chad

Re: a working 3G alt
Found a few (Mustang/Taurus), but the yards that have them aren't open on Sunday.
Unless someone wouldn't mind making a JY run for me: Broadway Autoparts 1610 S Acoma St Avalanche Autoparts 1175 S Kalamath St LKQ Colorado 1355 W 52nd Ave Fair Auto & Truck Parts 2400 South Tejon Street Denver Affordabe Used Parts 3400 E. 52nd Avenue Metal Movers 48 E 56th Ave Denver A-Arvada Auto Wrecking 5700 W. 56th Ave.
If anyone can help I'll be your best friend. I hate to even ask, but really want my truck back up and running.
I'd want to pick it up Sunday March 18, PM, so if that doesn't work, don't worry about it.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: a working 3G alt
The awesome 76fordbronco has offered to look through some yards for an alt for me. From what I found I told him to use 95 Mustang 5.0L & 95 Taurus 3.8L as a reference. If anyone can offer any other makes/models, it would be appreciated, and make Mikes job a little easier.
Thanks Chad

Re: a working 3G alt
OK Chad, I'm really starting to scare myself. I have the alternator your looking for in my garage. I'll take it down to O'Reilly's and have them verify it's in good working condition.

Re: a working 3G alt
It will probably start, he just won't get very far.
I'm still sitting here trying to wrap my head around this.

Re: a working 3G alt
I'm not sure how he did it, but I think he planned this.
Does he have some kind of time machine in the garage or basement? It wouldn't surprise me.
I can't compete with this kind of "out-nicing" - that is not even a real word. It should be submitted to Websters.
out-nicing: verb: see Mike Chaney
