Re: Rox Crusher's frame off refresh and 5.0 EFI swap
Sorry I haven't been keeping current with status updates............. BC Broncos throttle cable, modded by Viper, installed and looking great. Lokar shifter linkage installed and looks like it will work perfectly. We were expecting to have more trouble with this kit but nailed it on the second attempt. Wiring harness is installed and almost finished making all connections. Twin sticks are installed thanks to Kinder making a nice, simple, time saving, mounting plate for the advance adapter transmission adapter. I would have still been re-working my solution. Traveling this week so won't have time to get it finished in time for next week's BwB but I will be tearing up the streets / trails soon enough ! Thanks again to Mike, Phil, Shawn, and Kirk for all their help with making this a great project !

Re: Rox Crusher's frame off refresh and 5.0 EFI swap
Jeff,
I was rereading the last couple pages of your thread, and noticed you had some interference problems with the TFI and ECT sensor. I'm guessing you can clock the dizzy a bit and get the clearance you need. I guess I got lucky and was able to get everything in & timed on the first try. I put my gauge sensor in the heater line, and the ECT in the manifold.
Did the 4R70W fit under the body with no lift? I'm guessing so. I want to go with that tranny, but don't really want a body lift. A future 351 & Atlas may force me to add 1".

Re: Rox Crusher's frame off refresh and 5.0 EFI swap
Jeff,
I see, my mechanical temp sensor in the heater tube is shorter, and I'm not running the Explorer serp set up, so that must give me lots of extra room. I'd like to compare them side by side. I have about 90* of adjustment in my dizzy, the fuel rail hits the cap before anything.
I already cut a HUGE hole in my hood, the size of my old school hood bubble, just to fit my current Explorer/302 EFI set up. It was close, the hood cleared the TPS, but just barely, by less than 1/2". My body mounts are whipped, and the "geometry" of my body is way off. I feared that body flex and motor movement would end up with a damaged TPS, so I grabbed the nibbler and took no prisoners. So I'll either be stuck with the hood bubble, aftermarket hood, or a body lift regardless - I prefer a modded hood to a BL. I know 351s also interfere with the firewall a bit, but it looks like a ball peen hammer will fix that issue. I'm glad I don't have a show truck, it gives me lots of options. Function before fashion.
Looks like you need a 2" BL to clock an Atlas flat, I don't plan on that, at this point, but I was wondering about the tranny/body clearance. Maybe someday when my Bronco isn't a daily driver I'll add some BL lift, huge tires, and go all out, but not yet.

Re: Rox Crusher's frame off refresh and 5.0 EFI swap
Yep, I saw that. I used mine too, sitting in about the same spot. It barely fit under the hood, had to move my starter soliniod down to help keep the filter as low as possible. You can really hear it suck air when you hit the throttle. Not sure if that is the filter or the minimal air intake. I haven't really driven it too much, and its all been high way driving, so its still pretty clean looking.
Your engine compartment is so nice looking. Maybe when I yank the 302 for a 351 I'll do something to clean it up. Never had my motor out.
