2000 F-250 wont run
Hi guys, I have a 2000 F-250 with the v-10. the other day I went to go start it and it started then shut off about 3-5 seconds later. I starts runs at 1100ish RPM then shoots up to 1500ish then shuts down. I can do this 5-6 time in a row and it does the same thing every time. Almost seems like a anti theft type thing but im not sure. If anyone has any ideas or knows of anyone that could help i would very much appreciate it.

Unhook your battery/batteries for 10 minutes. Should clear any mode it's in. Also is SES light coming on?

That didn't work. I'm going to replace the Idle air control valve and see if that works.

Find someone with a code reader. That way you can concentrate on one area and save you some money. Anyone with an SCT programmer can do it, you don't need a fancy snap-on.

So a new IAC didn't work. When I hooked up the scanner there were no codes to read. I don't know where to go from here.

Fuel filter. Check fuel pressure.

Fuel pump? The engine shooting to 1500rpm's could be a bi-product of the engine starving.

Re: 2000 F-250 wont run
You could find the fuel pump (maybe on the frame rail or inside the tank) have someone cycle the key on and you listen for it. If nothing, could be the relay or maybe even a blown fuse.

A knock off K&N, that's what it came with when I bought the truck. Now that everything works it's time to sell it.

Re: 2000 F-250 wont run
Oh, ok. If you were going to keep it, I'd find a dry-flow filter. Oiled filters cause some bad problems if you don't oil them exactly right.
