Post Gas smell
No, not the one my wife complains about. Over the last week I'm suddenly getting the smell of gasoline in my garage. I pulled the auxiliary tank 3-4 months ago but haven't removed all the vent lines yet. I don't know enough about how those are routed to know if that could be causing the issue. Other than that, I haven't done any mechanical work to the truck in quite awhile. It is running normally, just drove it today. Any ideas about where to start looking for the problems? I'm wondering if the warmer weather is causing increased expansion of the gas in the tank, creating a symptom of a problem that has been around longer.

Is your gas cap vented? Full tank, warm weather, vented cap = gas smell. Also could be if the vent lines from aux tank tie in with main tank line your just smelling it there. Small leak at carb could do it to. Gas evaporates pretty fast but the smell is there for a long time.

not sure where your vent canister is (or even if you have one) - however the routing for the gas tank vents should be along the frame rail, then split near the aux tank then one line runs to the aux the other to the main. If you unplugged the one at the aux then maybe because it was warm yesterday its starting to vent to the atmosphere more? did you just unplug the vent line? if so just plug it with something at the aux area or take the "T" out and mate the line that goes from the canister to the main tank and see if that helps.

Again not sure what you have.. just know what I have, however I assume its similar. Is your canister behind the driver seat or in the engine bay? or do you even have one?

Should have looked more closely before I posted (gave it a once over, but not well enough). Looks like I broke one of the main tank vent lines when I pulled the aux tank. Now to figure out how to repair/replace it.
