GT40P's and headers
Who is running GT40P's and what headers are you running with them? I remember once upon a time reading the BCB headers had a slight problem with the P's and required some clearance some be done. I was going to check out the WH selection but their site is still down.

The Terrible One 1972 Sport uncut, 302, C4 with 1974 column , T shift Dana 20, 3.50 gears w/ limited slip, 1966 U13 Roadster kick panel, and factory power steering.

I'm your huckleberry.
I researched this extensively before settling on BC Broncos.
It was between them and Bronco Hut. I ruled BH out as I try to avoid doing business with them when possible.
BC had to modify their headers to provide clearance for the spark plugs. They simply added a dimple to certain tubes for the really tight fitting plugs.
You still have to loosen the headers to access / service some of the plugs. I am going to swap over to a shortie plug to get away from that requirement.

I have the Bronco Hut headers. They work MUCH better with the 40P than the BC ones they replaced, but my BCs were from two years back so maybe Chuck's redesigned them a bit, I dunno. Mine were a pain in the ass to mount on the 40P heads and there were a few plugs I'd never have been able to get a boot on, much less replace.
The BH headers mount right up and every plug is fully accessible.

i hear ya.. same boat i had to have a set of heads rebuilt anyway which is why i looked for a set of the gt40's.. got lucky found a set at the first yard i went to.
from all the horror stories i have heard over the years about the P heads so I chose the reg gt40's. The performance between the two from the testing i have seen and read about was negligible. not to mention the fact the manifolds and plug problems affect the P's more than makes up for the 3% or whatever difference there really is - it just alleviates one more headache.
i know the regular GT40's are harder to find and I got lucky... there were 3 sets of P's in the yard when i was there.... might have pulled one of those had i not found this set.. honestly.. but you have a choice!

The Bronco Hut headers work wonderfully with the GT40Ps. If you'd like pics, let me know. My engine's on a stand right now, so I can get all the angles.
