hood scoop or shorter aircleaner
Almost finished installing the new engine, closed the hood and it hits the aircleaner. My question is who is running a shorter air cleaner and who has scooped their hood for this reason? I am not interested in doing a body lift at this time. I guess I will call TBP and find out how tall there shorter aircleaner actually is and probably go from there. Thanks JP

You may also want to take a look at drop base air filter housings. They set the air filter down about 1-2" around the carb.

Re: hood scoop or shorter aircleaner
I tried to avoid adding a hood scoop because I did not want to cut my perfectly good hood. Also, my good friend Rox gave me his sweet Holley Air Cleaner that does just as Justin said lowers the filter 1-2" to avoid cutting the hood. However, seeing Airbur's classic hood scoop and the ram air scoop at Wild Horses is making me think differently. http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/category/s?keyword=scoop

I wanted the classic Bronco scoop since I had my first Bronco back in the early 90s. I have lot's-o-room under there now:)

Re: hood scoop or shorter aircleaner
A scoop helps with air flow in and out so it is moving up the list of priorities for my Bronco.

I actually like the looks of the Wild Horses Buckaroo hood...but $500 is too much.

Re: hood scoop or shorter aircleaner
I apperciate all the input. I do kind of like the look of the WH scoop, but that was not really the way I wanted to go. Does anyone have the part number for the Holley air cleaner. JP

Re: hood scoop or shorter aircleaner
The WH Buckaroo is my fav hood, too. The Fiberglass Bronco in Greeley that I should have bought i had one The Holley that I got from Rox has a retail price of over $300 :(. Even on eBay they sell for over $200. I am sure there are less expensive alternatives tho. Holley Part Info: http://www.holley.com/64280.asp

Re: hood scoop or shorter aircleaner
Edlebrock and Holley both have other cheaper low profile style air cleaners too depending on how much room you need.

Re: hood scoop or shorter aircleaner
I just bought a 'glass hood from Jay via Bronco Hut so now I don't need my functional scooped steel hood. It has a scoop in the center that would clear your air cleaner and make sure your engine can breathe well! Save your money on the air cleaners, and make me an offer on the hood if interested. PM if you want.
