Ok I have been thinking of getting my charging system in place as I have about 10 feet of 2/0 gauge wiring laying around that is perfect for this.. i know its on the large size but its free and I even have it in black and red.

I want this to be very clean and tidy but want to make sure do this right the first time.

i was going to buy a new starter solenoid anyway.. and have been reading that i will need once that can handle the computer and not fry it. I should be able to use the same kind I have in my fullsize then correct? I have a new mini starter with the solenoid on it but have read its good to keep a separate solenoid for accessories and to isolate the starter.

If this is the case do i run the 4g alt power to the mega fuse then the starter or to the mega fuse then to the fender solenoid to then to the starter?

On the negative side..

negative battery cable to the engine, engine to the frame.

Starter negative cable to the frame. then a cable from the frame to the main body of the truck.

I need to go buy the ends of the cable so want to make sure I get enough of them... and dont cut the cable wrong.

Had anyone ran across any good pics of a nice EFI charging system? lots of intakes.. not so many electrics

Different starter solinoid for EFI, please educate me, I didn't do that. Is that why I have my weird ECU codes?

Some people will say not to use the old style solenoid. I use it and don't have any problems. I don't see a problem with either style.

With the new style starter, some will say not to run the starter cable through the fender solenoid. I run it through. No problems. Yes you can get rid of the fender solenoid, but it a good place to hook up all the other wiring.

Try to run ground cable from battery to a common point for everything else. Frame is a good location. From there you can run a ground to engine, inner fender, radiator (important with aluminum radiators). Add another ground between intake and firewall. Lots of high current stuff inside grounded to firewall. Ground points need to be clean and paint free. Use braided ground straps where you can between body panels. Insulated wire holds in moisture and corrodes.

Alternator output needs to go as close to battery as possible. Usually this means fender solenoid. RJM harness has excitation wire (green wire) for alternator. You'll just need the alternator connector which can be found in most parts stores. Yellow wire goes to alternator output terminal.

i was planning on using a mega fuse from the + of the alt to the solenoid 150 or 175 amp whatever i have here.. that should still be ok correct?

I put a breaker between the alternator and the battery. That way I can just reset it if it pops.
