One HELLUVA week
So, I've been off the grid for the last week. I blame AT&T for their horrible coverage in the South West. Although, who can blame them. There is no one in the deserts of Nevada.
And now, why I love my job! Day 1-4: I started off with three days in Reno last week. Biggest little city my butt. That place looks the size of Colorado Springs. I did get to drive up to Tahoe while I was there and I can truly see why people would pay millions to live on that lake. It is absolutely beautiful.
Day 5: Next, I got to go on a little unconventional journey towards Vegas. Started out kayaking across Pyramid Lake, just north east of Reno. Wonderful place. Very quite and HUGE lake.
Next was an ATV/RZR ride down towards Hawthorne Army Depot in Hawthorne, NV. Those RZRs will MOVE, but when you are doing 55+ mph down a gravel and sand road, do NOT make major corrections in steering. Those things are squirrely and float at that speed.
Day 6: Woke up and left Hawthorne on the ATVs and RZRs again. 45 miles through some very isolated terrain and very scenic, albeit desolate landscape. A short drive in SUVs down to Tomapah, NV and then a plane ride to another location. The plane we flew on was a C-12 and is the actual airframe that holds the world's record for highest prop driven flight at 35k feet or so, with a 1000 kilo payload. And I got to fly it. I wasn't behind the controls long, but long enough to know that flying ain't no joke. Once we landed, it was a drive in to Vegas.
Day 7: Kicked around Vegas for the day and wrapped up the event. Hit some tables and learned quickly, and before I was broke, that gambling is NOT my thing. I did have a buddy who walked away after the first night 7000 up after a night on a single deck Black Jack table. He's kinda good. Pretty sure he doubled that last night.
Day 8: Wake up, pack up, head to the airport.
All in all, a great break from the daily routine and one helluva week.
And I did spot ONE Bronco during the entire trip. A 1973 who original owner was also the owner of the car dealership that it was parked in front of in Fallon, NV.
Pics are coming. I just need a few to get back to COS and knock the dust off myself.
Great to be back!

Sounds like a good trip. Vegas isn't my deal but I like Tahoe. Pyramid Lake holds some huge cutthroat trout, or at least use to.

Nice to know about the trout. I was wondering what might be in there. Considering the price of airfare, just might have to take a trip back out there for fishing

Nice! Glad I didn't go for a dip. Might have lost a foot to some of those!

Sounds like a fun trip! Yeah, Gambling ain't my thing either. I've never won much (except maybe when I hit a nickle slot as a 10yr old kid in some NV border town). But I just don't like watching my money go away like that when I can have something tangible instead.
