Events
A few of us were talking about ideas for events over the next year. Thought I'd throw out some of what has been brainstormed and also see what else would interest all of you. 1. Welding tech day: Not a fab day, but a day to learn the basics of welding or for those who want to improve their welding skills to do so. I don't know of someone offhand that could lead it, but have a couple of ideas. Many of us can weld, but if you're like me having a knowledgeable eye provide some feedback would be really helpful. 2. Trail runs: These sort of got lost in the shuffle this year, and I'd love to see more happen next wheeling season. 3. Wounded Warrior Run: I've got a number of contacts in the Veterans Community and would like to get a bunch of rigs together to take some disabled veterans out for a run. Something along the lines of this: http://4wheeltoheal.org/. I'd like someday to start a local club or non-profit with this as a dedicated mission, this would be a great start! 4. Go-kart day: There is a great go-kart track at Bandimere and an even better one in Dacono (I've hit 50 or 60 mph on the one at Dacono). Late morning racing followed by afternoon BBQ or cruise. Maybe make it happen on one of the Golden SuperCruise days? Hopefully Laurie could attend and show us how it's done! 5. Electronics tech day: How to make a good solder joint, how to read a wiring diagram, how to build a circuit, etc. Possibly end the day with all participants leaving with a new headlight relay setup. 6. Fab/small projects days: Similar to what we did a couple of times at Hockeydad's former shop. Get a bunch of guys with a bunch of tools working on a bunch of projects and knock out the random projects that pile up on our rigs. Or build a bunch of bumpers. Or stand around and drink more beer than common sense would allow. Either way it's fun. Might be a good way to do some events over the winter. 7. Christmas party: Self explanatory. 8. Heater rebuild/upgrade: Might be a good one for the near future... viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4689How do those sound? Any other ideas?

Re: Events
For welding tech you may be able to talk booger into it. He's laid a few beads in his day. The rest of them sound pretty good too.

Re: Events
I'd gladly help with the welding tech class or the wiring, I could also bring some of my tech info on welding from my schooling as long as it fits in my schedule

Re: Events
Thanks to both of you. I'll figure out a timeline and get back to ya. I'm thinking sometime this winter, as a bunch of welders could make a garage nice and warm.

Re: Events
Have been giving the welding tech day some thought. Would there be interest in a group rate for a basic welding class at one of the welding shops or community colleges?

Re: Events
Dude, I want to weld jello. Thanks for the offer, may take you up on it. We'll see how the winter shapes up event-wise and get something on the calendar.

Re: Events
I can vouch for dirtheadz, he's a great welder and probably one of the best candidates for teaching the class, heck at one point he was my boss

Re: Events
Awesome. I wouldn't mind having both you guys on hand to give pointers. I'm thinking that early next year makes the most sense, as we've got the HB tech day in November. Maybe do it in December with a CCB Christmas party to follow?
