Post Distributer Magnetic Pickup Autopsy
As some know, I nicked a distributer wire while cleaning up the thermostat housing gasket surface. Casadejohnson was nice enough to pick me up a new one from the yard. I was able to get the wire soldered, but thought we should do proper due diligence and fix correctly.

There was some discussion at Gregg's build this weekend as to how to just replace the pickup with out pulling the cog and replacing the whole assembly. We all looked at it and decided that you could just pop the clip and it should come out. After some looking and the proper light it appears that it was assembled in a specific order with the final stage being rivets.

With that being said...and curious...an autopsy was in order. As the pictures show, it won't simply slide out as hoping. There is a piece that slides out and the bottom plate will not allow for any manipulation.

Lesson learned...and now need to pick another spare up. Not sure this is of any value to anyone, but figured I would share for those that looked at it.

Matt

I have pulled mine out many times and it's an easy task to pull the "star" off. two screw drivers and pry up on it. Just look carefully as there is a small roll pin that holds it in place. the roll pin is vertical and is used like a keyway on a crank. Unscrew the and disconnect the vacuum advance the unscrew the plate/pick up.
