High School Hot Rod
The good old days of teenage angst have come back into my life, I wasn't looking for them intentionally, but they snuck up on me. I had a couple of Hot Rods when I was a teenager, but my 1st one was a 1968 Camaro. It was just a base model with a 327 & 2 speed auto, but it was fun nonetheless. I sold the car to my cousin when I joined the Air Force, he still owns that car, of course it is a 9 second drag car now.
So now I'm the owner of another 68 Camaro, it only took 23 years for me to own another bow tie car, I've been a blue oval guy except for these two cars. This will be a long term project car, not a quick turn build like Willem's Bronco. The plan is to build it with my youngest over the next 3-5 years and it'll be his 1st high school car when I'm not borrowing it to run to the hardware store. It'll get torn completely down just like the Bronco and built back up to be a driver with emphasis on reliability and safety.
It has been a while since we've had a high school car thread so lets see some others.
Now on to the pics.

Sweet, that thing is awesome. My first car isn't worth posting-1980 VW Rabbit Diesel. Had a whopping 64hp from the factory.

My first vehicle was a rust brown 1973 Ford Bronco, 11 years later I still have it!

Nice. You due know that bronco hut carries Camaro parts too. Or they can get them. My first high school car was and still have it 69 Camaro. That my son and I are building right now along with his 74 bronco.

Re: High School Hot Rod
My first car was a 79 CJ7. It wasn't even 10 years old, and it already had holes rusted through the body. Midwest rot. My mother hated it, and eventually made me sell it. When I got to Colorado, I saw all the "survivors"- Jeeps, Scouts, Broncos, and decided it was time to get one. I was looking for a CJ8 or a Bronco when I came across my Bronco.

Re: High School Hot Rod
Very cool, congrats on the find. I've always like the old Cameros.
Alex, didn't know you are building a 74 for your son. Would like to see it sometime.

Nice project. Mine was a 65 Chevelle and kick my self in the butt for getting rid of it before going into the Navy. I want to kick it even more after the Goodguys car show last weekend....

Re: High School Hot Rod
Cool project, albeit bowtie... But, they are great looking cars. My first was an '83 Mercury Capri RS 302 holley 4brl, 4 on the floor, posi. Fun car! I remember flipping the air cleaner lid over to hear more of that 4brl growl! This was my paint scheme, although mine wasn't nearly as nice: Had the bubble rear window that was more like an oven in the summer! Best $1000 I ever spent! If the right deal came by, I might own another, but probably EFI it for reliability and performance reasons.

Re: High School Hot Rod
I owned a 69 RS but it was in 10,000 pieces. I sold it before I ever turned a wrench on it and never drove it. I'm at my Brothers house in Washington right now and he has this 67 mustang wasting away. Been trying to get him to let me take it home to build for my boys but its just going to sit here and rot. It's a Damn Greek Tragedy. He's got this as well. Also sitting and rotting.

Re: High School Hot Rod
Throw a hitch on the Ranchero and a tow bar on the Mustang and make a run for it!
