extended radius arm experiences???
Hey all, about to be in the market for some extended arms and am debating between Duffs, Bloody Knucle/ Cage, and Tom's. While I dig the travel that seems to come with the Duff/ Cage style I am hoping to get some turning radius back and it looks like the shocks mount in theat area. The Tom's style or previous offering from Wildhorses have the shocks mounting on top of the arm like stock. Thoughs and experiences are appreciated. Thanks as always.

The shock mounts on my Bloody Knuckle arms rub just a bit on my tires @ full lock. I'm using extended upper mounts, and the shocks that came with my 3.5" lift. I welded a generic shock mount to the top of the arm, and didn't use the "stock" lower mount. Just turned out to fit right. I should just cut the stock mount off. But, my shocks are limiting my travel. If you have a long travel shock, you might want the extra shock length. Depending on your upper mount, you could add a shock mount inside the arm, opposite the "stock" location. I'll upgrade my shocks soon. Its something I really need to get done. Both arms are great options. The Tom's/Wild Horses ones are made by All4Fun Offroad ( http://www.broncobob.com/) and can be ordered directly from them. They use the stock style rubber bushing which is thought by some to limit travel to a small degree. BKG/Duff use a heim, which is more costly to replace and could potentially have a shorter lifespan. I'm not convinced that it really matters. Jim Cole, the guy behind Bloody Knuckle Garage (which used to be Cage) was central in the original design of the Duff arms, which is why they look really similar. There are intermittent reports of failures on the Duff arms where the tube enters the bracket, and he's since changed the design a little to spread out the heat affected areas when they're welded. It seems doubtful that there is a meaningful travel difference between the two arms unless you're doing some fairly serious wheeling, in which case the BKG design seems best to me. Your other option is to make your own. Check out Trei's build, as he was able to make some really nice arms that will flex better than either option. They're based on the Battlement Fab design that is also common for Jeep long arm swaps.

I'm running Duff's arms with their shocks & long travel hoop system, shocks mounted in the stock location. So far they are rock solid and the system really works well off road and drives great. I DO get a bit of rub at full lock with my 35x12.5x15 BFGs on 3.5" backspaced rims

My suggestion is to lose the C-Clamp configuration if you can. I don't remember if stock bronco axles have weld-on wedges or not?? I think you can work around them if not.
This is what I ended up with and really like:
The frame brackets are welded to the inside of the frame, so I can get some length, but they don't have to be super long to get the flex thanks to the Johnny joints. Please ignore my booger welds.
I also have easy caster adjustability.

Off the inside of the lower arm: I didn't do very good with the bolt alignment. On one side, the shock body contacts the frame just barely when flexed, but it was the only option I had at the time. All the pics: http://s8.photobucket.com/user/jesus_ma ... t=6&page=1

I have cage arms and don't have any issues with rubbing on anything. If my mind works correctly I believe you have spacers so you should be fine. If you want a peak again then we could meet up and you can take a look if you want .
