Brake question?
I am going to be swapping in a 76 Dana 44 for my 74 Dana with drums. Do I just need to order outer front brake lines. The steel line on the 76 was GOA. Can I reuse my 74's steel line?

Re: Brake question?
Steel line will be fine, will need new outers for the calipers
Assuming you are talking about the 2 steel lines that run length wise on the housing

Re: Brake question?
The 76 axle has no steel lines. I am assuming I can reuse the steel lines off of the 74 axle and just purchase the outer lines that attach to the calipers. Or am I wrong?

Re: Brake question?
You can probably reuse your steel line, but will need flex lines to fit them. If im remebering correctly, Stock 76 ends on the hard lines were larger.

Re: Brake question?
Yes, like was stated... Ends should be the same, get your flex lines from a vendor, last ones I got from napa were more money and took a week to get ( would have been cheaper with braided stainless from WH than the rubber from napa

Re: Brake question?
You will also need to ream the knuckle tie rod holes deeper for the older steering linkage and the older linkage may be too short. Good time to upgrade linkage to something HD. Also the linkage holes are closer to the wheels which could be a problem depending on the wheel offset.

Re: Brake question?
I am doing the ruffstuff knuckle over conversion at the same time. Kinder is hooking me up on that one.

Re: Brake question?
Just did a ruffstuff tie rod over a couple of weeks ago and it made a huge difference over my old stock steering. The old tie rod had a lot of flex making for some interesting steering response.
