Re: Bronco Safari 2014 - April 30th thru May 3rd in Moab, UT
Have fun guys. I'm likely out, as there is virtually no chance I'll have my rig back together in time to go. If I do I'll be tent camping anyway and am happy to sleep in whatever random corner is available.

Re: Bronco Safari 2014 - April 30th thru May 3rd in Moab, UT
I'm camping outside of the "pay grounds". I'll have a tow rig, trailer, and Bronco. I'm gonna be with some other guys who are bringing dirt bikes. There should be some extra space out by us for trailer parking if need be. If it starts to look tight for all the trailers, let me know. The spot I camp is about 15 minutes outside of Moab on the GJ side.
With that said- if anyone is looking to join us camping, let me know.

Re: Bronco Safari 2014 - April 30th thru May 3rd in Moab, UT
I will be driving my bronco from Junction. I will be alone and can bring a tent or try and sleep in the bronco if space is too tight. I really appreciate "sharing" the campfire and getting to know everyone. My bronco has a pretty stock suspension so that and my lack of offroad driving experience will be my limiting factor.

Re: Bronco Safari 2014 - April 30th thru May 3rd in Moab, UT
Theres one thing Im happy about. Im not taking a bronco of my own. I have a lot I need to do to my truck just to make the haul and if i was taking my bronco i'd have to get that ready too.
Im getting excited. Last year was a blast and this year will be even better.

Re: Bronco Safari 2014 - April 30th thru May 3rd in Moab, UT
I got the OK from the boss to swap my vacation today so I am now "officially " in and Mike is in as well. I see that there is going to be a caravan out of Denver on tuesday. Is anyone going before that? Mike and I are tentatively planning on leaving Saturday Morning. I'm thinking about running the "offroad" portion of Arches National Park on that Sunday or Monday. Always wanted to do that but have never had enough time to do it. FYI, its currently 14 degrees warmer in Moab than it is at my house.

One of these years I would love to do this. Don't think it is this year though.

I'm still undecided whether I will drive or trailer mine.
Either way, I will be tenting it again this year.

PS........without openly admitting that my Bronco can't do the big boy trails............
If we go on some epic trail where a more capable trail rig is needed.........I would love to ride shotgun.
Keep me in mind.

Chris and Myself wont be able to leave denver till early afternoon on tuesday. I plan to sleep in the back of my truck so no need for tent space for me.

I may tow a small teardrop camper that a friend of mine builds. It would be pretty neat behind an early bronco since it is a retro style teardrop. I'll have his information if anyone is considering a small off-road capable customizable trailer.

What is the latest on the campground head count / vehicle count? Mike and I are going to go out a few days before the convoy so I'm going to be calling them in the next couple days to see if the y can accommodate our earlier arrival.

No changes, parking will be extremely tight!
You can go on their website and see what open spaces they have available.

Re: Bronco Safari 2014 - April 30th thru May 3rd in Moab, UT
As if our plans for this years Bronco Safari weren't already awesome enough..........
It looks like we will have a "Colorado Classic Broncos" dinner on Thursday night, May 1st.
Scott Barnes graciously offered to let us have it at his rental house. Scott is the guy who recently picked up a Big Oly replica here in Denver and will be racing it in the Mexican 500 this fall. You can follow their adventures on Facebook at Vintage Bronco Racing.

The dinner will be a burgers and beer deal with everyone bringing a side dish and their favorite beverages.
We'll get some details out soon but I just wanted to let everyone know to save the date.

Re: Bronco Safari 2014 - April 30th thru May 3rd in Moab, UT
I just booked another camp space at slick rock . Mike and I plan to arrive early ( Sat the 26th ) and stay through at least Friday. Spaces are getting tight so we are in 166 through at least the 30th we are then booked after that in a space that is to be determined or we might stay put. We shall see. If they F it up were moving in with you guys! I just figured a little extra parking and tent space couldn't hurt. If anyone is coming out early you know where to look for us. My next internet stop is the Bronco safari webpage to get registered.

Re: Bronco Safari 2014 - April 30th thru May 3rd in Moab, UT
I may not be coming to the Safari afterall. I'm registered but I traded my bronco for a built land rover diesel rig. Definitely not a bronco. I thought long and hard about the trade and the comfort, air conditioning, condition, etc. on the rover just made more sense for me. I'm getting less able to do the work that a bronco like mine needed and being retired the money that would be required to get my bronco to where I wanted it was a concern. My friends are giving me lots of grief for "abandoning the bronco brotherhood".
