Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
How was pulling all the factory stuff of the frame in the front?? I will be headed that way someday!
I had the exact issue with my Battlement Fab brackets! Thank goodness we had a mutual friend with a plasma table. I was taking up space in a friends garage and couldn't afford delays.

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
Some used coilovers showed up in the mail yesterday. They're older and un-pretty, but were dirt cheap and should clean up OK. A quick rebuild and I'm hoping to have scored a great deal! Got a set of NIB bumpstops at the swap meet today, along with a newer-than-the-old-one top that looks to be in extremely good shape. Probably won't install that till the welding is done. Now to find more time in the garage....

Those are tiny. Drop them off at my house and I'll get rid of them for you.

Yeah, they may be a little too shiny. They were cheap (do you sense a trend?). Might need plasti dip.

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
So when do these bling parts get installed??
I've done two sets of wheels in Plastidip. Just be patient and use many, many light coats.

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
Finally some good news in the brackets department! Some customized radius arm brackets showed up in the mail today from Ballistic Fabrication. I thought seriously about making my own, but these are way nicer than I could have done with a plasma. The fit and finish makes me was a robot-controlled laser to play with. I may drop the coilover mounts down a little to allow use of shorter upper mounts, but other than that they're perfect. Now to finalize some days off work and I can make a little progress!

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
Good news!! I too would love a plasma table to play with, but I am way behind. I don't have a plasma or a high volume air compressor at this point...

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
I'd love to have a plasma table too, but these are actually laser cut. I asked, Ballistic has a CO2 laser that they cut their parts with. Super nice edges. Want. Laser.

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
I think you're thinking of Battlement, Jeff.

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
Battlement's web site is no longer. No idea if they're in business otherwise. Good riddance. Ballistic, on the other hand, was great. Took about 10 days to get my stuff since they didn't have my stuff of the shelf and only charged me $20 for the changes to their design. They had some major problems in 2011 and got themselves booted off vendor status over on Pirate, but they were the only ones I found who had a design close to Battlement's so I thought I'd give them a shot. They did right by me, and I'd probably order from them again. Doesn't hurt that they gave me 15% off my order just for mentioning that RuffStuff has an ongoing 10% discount for Pirate members and asking them to match.

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
I can't imagine anyone offering a discount for being a member of Pirate except for dive bars and anger management specialists.

Seriously. I surf the classifieds regularly and have scored some stellar deals there, but the drama level is idiotic.

Re: Justin's retroactive build thread
Slowly making progress. Hit a couple of snags along the way, including a sick kid and discovering that I'd mis-assembled one of my axle brackets after finish welding it. It also looks like my radius arms were built specifically for a EB width axles. This would be fine if I was running coil springs, but a very cool, overbuilt solution is in the works. Many thanks to CrawlerCreations for taking a look at things with me and making sure that I hadn't badly screwed up anything so far. I tweaked the radius arm brackets a little and got the entire passenger's side arm tacked in. The other side will go much faster now that I have a vague clue what I'm doing.
