Rear gas tank strap
I'm rebuilding my entire fuel system and the rear gas tank was loose and rubbing on the metal support strap. The tank is ok and doesn't need replacing.
My question is there rubber between the strap? Where, how much,,,anything better?
Anything rubber above the tank?
Metal on metal doesn't seem right.

Re: Rear gas tank strap
I know that when I removed and repaired mine, there were rubber panels that were meant to go on the corners where the strap met the tank and that was it.

Re: Rear gas tank strap
There should also be small rubber sections where the tank bumps up against the frame tabs.

Re: Rear gas tank strap
Ok thanks, that helps a lot.
Now I just hope I get one of the old guys at the NAPA counter...

Re: Rear gas tank strap
Ok, this is embarrassing, but I once found, but cannot now find, the rubber tank bumps between gas tank and body. I've looked at every vendor and googled it without luck, but I found it easily just a week ago. Does someone know? This is driving me ! J.E.

Re: Rear gas tank strap
I'd use an old cut up playground ball (dodgeball) like all the other bushings and gaskets on my truck.
