Post Where should I mount my fuel cell?
OK I can mount it in 4 locations.

1. Behind a hypothetical rear seat
2. Behind passenger seats
3. Driver side wheel well running long way
4. Pass side wheel well running long way

What do you all think? The cell is 30" long 12" tall 9" wide.

Not sure where the fuel cell would mount near the wheel well?

That's a tough one! As I elluded to in your other thread...there truly isn't a good place to mount a fuel cell in a bronco without sacrificing something like rear seat or valuable cargo space.

I remain neutral on the subject... :-)

Crumple zone out back :)

I assume you will be going 4 link out back so along the drivetrain is out.

Think of balance. I vote for anywhere that will distribute the weight evenly between left & right. I'm not, nor have I ever been, a big fan of saddle bag tanks on short wheel base rigs. Granted, you aren't dealing with an extra 500 lbs, (if my math is right, thats a 14 gallon tank and will weigh about 100 lb when full) but keeping everything evenly distributed will also offer the highest percentage of keeping shoes in the dirt instead of in the air.

If you mount position 4, how low will it hang if below the passenger seat?

I just pulled my 3rd tank that was installed there by the PO as it was 3-4 inches too low, asking for trouble getting hung up on stuff when off road.

I haven't put a back seat in my truck in a few years, but I can if I want.

I mounted ammo can tool/parts boxes "behind" the back seat where you are mounting the fuel cell.

Post Re: Where should I mount my fuel cell?
For the harder trail days, I have a tool box bracket that bolts thru the floor of my bronco and it holds my toolbox down centered behind the front seats. When the family goes, I just bolt the back seat in and take a smaller tool bag. I like having the use of my entire bed, while not having fuel that close to me.

With my rig, I want to push the rear axle back at least 2", maybe more. I might have to talk to the guys who built Gunni's tank and see if they can't roll a piece of plate into nearly a half-moon and weld that into the front of the tank giving clearance for the pumpkin. I'm going to have to decide how much I want to push the rear axle back, but if I can get 15 gallons from that tank, I can maybe add a smaller 5+gal tank elsewhere and just add in a transfer pump.
