A good sign or a bad one?
Today I stopped off at Advance to see if they carried constant voltage regulators for our instrument clusters. Indeed they do; at 59.99 each. Scoffing at the price I told the girl "I'll order from the internet. I know a Bronco vendor who sells them for half that." She asked me if I could show her the site and I did. She then price matched them so I ordered two. They'll be here tomorrow. No shipping.

Good customer service, bad pricing scheme. If they can discount it and still make money are they just making money on the uninformed?

I have found that internet shopping is the way to save money. I recently bought wheel bearing assemblies for my F250. The cost for one at O'Reilly's was $225. The internet cost for two was $155.

Most of the time they will match you don't even have to show them proof, just tell them where and how much. There have been a few times when price is was much lower I have have had to show proof.

I always ask if they will price match... whip out the ol' digital telegraph machine and show them. Usually works

Re: A good sign or a bad one?
Awesome. Got to be an educated buyer! Years ago when I did an d44 disc swap a friend of mine priced rotor assemblies in OK and they were half what they were in CO. Sure enough change the zip on the site and they were half price. Called local shop and they price matched their own site. But the clerk gave me some lip. He threw his wallet on the table and asked if I wanted him to pay for them too. He caught me way offguard so I didn't have a response, but he never got my business again.
