Can we do it ?
I love my 5.0 EFI but am getting the itch to "go big".
I am thinking about a 351 EFI with Explorer OBDII harness.
Sounds easy enough....................but I don't want a body lift and I want to retain the stock hood.
I thought I read about someone on CB.com having pulled this off but I can't find the thread.
Or, should I just freak out and go Coyote ?

I'd be interested in your Explorer motor if you end up going the way of the 351.

MORE TORQUE!!! 4BT!!!!!! But if you really want to haul a$$, Put a blower on top of the Coyote. No body lift needed but you will need to cut the hood.

Re: Can we do it ?
My vote is 351W. But that's the practical side of me thinking about sitting in the middle of Nowhere, USA waiting for my Coyote motor parts to arrive in 3-7 days.

Re: Can we do it ?
Doesn't BC make an adapter plate for the 351 manifold to a 5.0 plenum that makes it so you don't have to put a body lift on? Or is the 351 a taller engine overall?

Re: Can we do it ?
Deck height is 1.3" taller. Mine sure sits tall in the engine compartment, but PO also installed extreme motor mounts.

Re: Can we do it ?
The BC adapter is for using a stock 5.8 lower manifold from a truck with a stock 5.0 upper manifold from a mustang or explorer.

I wouldn't change a thing - your engine and Bronco build turned out amazing.

351w roller mild build efi would be my vote. But you might be going with an after market hood :)

Re: Can we do it ?
351w has great torque down low, Bubba Smurf's motor is from 1969 & original and it still has great torque. I have no experience with the coyote motor besides YouTube videos.

Re: Can we do it ?
I think if you're going to the effort of doing this all over again you should just bite the bullet and do a coyote and a 6R80 that's what I plan to put in a LUBR when I finish my current bronco

Re: Can we do it ?
For the 10-15000 you will spend with a coyote swap I bet you could have a 351 stroker built to the hilt. The accessories will stay the same, computer ect... and the most important thing is mechanical support. It comes down to cost vs gain. On the other hand it is a cool factor thing.

You're going to have to pass that off to Bubba Smurf, that thing won't fit a Coyote!
