94 and later blocks are roller ready. Lightnings and cobra rs were non - roller but are roller ready. Most f - series, Bronco, and econolines after 94 are roller motors. It is my under standing that only early 94's were non roller. Look for the f4te casting under . If you see that at least you know it's ready for a roller cam without any other modification.

I got my roller block from a 96 Econo. As stated, most big bodies, F series, E series, and Broncos should have the hotness you want. I'll keep my eyes peeled down here if you want me to. I found the Econo was a pretty easy pull despite the stubby nose. The dog house inside the passenger compartment made unbolting and disconnecting a snap.

$250 + $50 Core. I'd see if you can find one from a wrecked donor there. Odds are good that it was running when wrecked. If it isn't wrecked the reason it could be there is a bad motor.

150 plus 50 core up at Andersons. It will include the block, heads, intake, balancer, water pump, valve covers, dizzy, and oil pan according to the site.
I got mine from a 96 F250.

100% the same, no. Extremely similar in design and flow characteristics, yes. Worth the money to buy a branded Lightning/Cobra R upper over a GT40? Debatable. I haven't seen the flow numbers in awhile now. But, I don't recall there being a huge advantage. And if you were going to spend that kind of money, you might as well invest in a Trick Flow or Edelbrock system.

I'm wanting to find the lowest profile upper intake (hopefully OEM) that is well suited / matched for 351.

I think the explorer upper I already have will flow well enough and I thought I even heard that they actually flow as well as the GT40 tubular uppers.

I suppose it depends on who ran the test that day, what they had for breakfast, and the alignment of the stars. I've seen a few tests that claim that the Explorer intakes actually flowed better. Unless you had to have the look of the Cobra or Lightning I'd just run the Explorer upper. I doubt that there would be any difference it total height.

I'm sure you can deck the upper and lower to get another .20 in clearance if you really want it. Lol

I'm still trying to figure out which motor mounts I will use. I've heard rumors of a Mustang convertible mount that is just slightly lower than the rest.

Just use a flat plate to rigidly mount the motor to the towers. Probably save 1" of space. That way you only need 1" of body lift.

Hello all, Debbie Downer here...............

I've realized that it is highly unlikely I can meet my objectives of using a stock hood and maximum body lift of 1" so I am admitting defeat and moving on.

The silver lining is I already have a kick ass 5.0 EFI motor in there so I'm still happy !
