Anyone know a chip tuner?
If that's even the proper term.
I bought a 6 position chip for the Super Duty a few weeks ago. It was stupid cheap and I figured at a minimum I would have something to send in when I'm ready to run different tunes on my truck. The problem I have is I don't know which company wrote the tunes that are currently burned on this chip. If I can find someone who tunes, perhaps I can have them read the chip and maybe something in the files will tell me what is currently installed.

Re: Anyone know a chip tuner?
I would try Elite first as well. ATS second.
I could probably read it but wouldn't be able to do anything with it since I don't have any oil burner software.

Re: Anyone know a chip tuner?
Currently I'm only looking to have it read so I can try and ID the programming that is in it.

Re: Anyone know a chip tuner?
Without a proper definition for it all that I'll get is 1s and 0s. However, sometimes when you view the tune with a hex editor you will see copyright and other information embedded in it. I'd be more than happy to check it out for you, I just don't know that I'll be able to tell you very much.

Re: Anyone know a chip tuner?
Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. I'll see if I can get it north to you for deciphering. Provided I don't just say the hell with it and send it off to DPTuner first.

Re: Anyone know a chip tuner?
If it's a TS switch chip DP cant do those. You have to send it to gearheadz or PHP or the like. Jody has his own chips and thats it.

Re: Anyone know a chip tuner?
Elite (before it was Elite) did the tuning on my SD. Tadd was using the SCT module tho, but that was MANY years ago and when he was located in Alamosa. A tuner tells you as you are switching programs as to what you are installing. I do not know what a chip does, but I'm guessing there is no User interface?

Re: Anyone know a chip tuner?
Correct JD. With a switch chip you just need to remember what tune is in what slot. Mine has 7 tunes on it. I made a note incase I forget that is stuck in the visor of my truck. The nice part about a chip is it's switch on the fly. All i have to do to change tunes is let off the throttle push the button and wait a second. then it changed and i can keep driving.

Re: Anyone know a chip tuner?
I wanted a chip for that reason (shift-on-the-fly)! Never did make it.
