Because the Riff Raff wheel is CNC'd from billet aluminum where the wicked wheel is likely cast.

Sooo. If Im going to tear into the turbo, the riff raft wheel is the way to go. For my intercooler, either I bite the bullet on the early 99 parts or go aftermarket. Up pipes from Riff Raff and down pipe from? I keep hearing about Diamond Eye for that. How big of down pipe can get wedged into the OBS? I think you need to use a BFH to get anything bigger than stock in there. Damn You IH 7.3 !! I still have post Moab Bronco repairs to make!

The billet wheel made a huge difference over the ww. with the ww in my 100hp tune I could only see a max of 22psi. Now I see 28-29 with spikes to 32-33 on shifts. EGT's went down by 150* or so.


Jeremy, from what I hear on the OBS trucks you can only go as big as 3" down pipe without beating the crap out of the firewall. I have MBRP and it is nice n quiet with zero drone which is what I wanted. I've heard good things about diamond eye too.

I never had surge issues until I put on a 4" down pipe. And that was pre tunes. A ww is a step backwards for flow/performance on post 99 trucks.

I would recommend doing a billet wheel if you have to pull the turbo for any reason. I see it as a well worth it upgrade.

So, it had been a little while since we had made the traditional saturday junkyard run so today we made the trip without plans to find anything in particular. Todays run yielded not one but two 7.3L power strokes ! I have never seen anything but an IDI diesel in the yard up here before. Anyway, Look what followed me home. I think I have everything needed to put an intercooler in my truck and the best part is that I got it all for $66! I even got the oil cooler since mine has a little leak.

6.0 coolers are known to be a fair bit more efficient. I was shocked when I saw my first one too with the plastic ends, but it did help the EGT's over the stocker.
