Tire and wheel question
I've been running a tire out of a set I have for a spare. I'm thinking of selling the set of wheels and tires but that means I need to find a new spare.
I have a spare 15x6 wheel. I was thinking of trying to find a used 33x10.50 tire to mount on it. Any issues with that? I think the 15x6 should be ok with a 10.50 tire but thought I'd ask first. Also, when looking at used tires, what should I look for? Just how old the tire is? What else would make it so a tire shop wouldn't mount it for me?
Thanks!
Adam

Re: Tire and wheel question
Some places won't mount a tire if the tread is too low. Walmart for one.

Re: Tire and wheel question
That's a little narrow. You usually want to see a 7" wide wheel for a 10.5" tire. I wouldn't run it for a daily use tire, but for a spare it's probably OK. As Viper mentioned, tread depth can be an issue for some shops, as can tire age. Discount won't mount any tires that are more than 10 years old. I've had good luck getting spare tires from 4Wheel Parts. They take off a decent number of worn but spare-appropriate tires. The Westminster store stacks them up behind their shop near their dumpster and will let you take one for free if you promise it's for a spare.
