Wheeler Lake 8-16-14
Morning started off early. We met at The Fort parking lot at 545am. It was myself, TOOLMAN, Rox, Willie, Casadejohnson. Everyone was a little tired but ready.
It was a little early...
The drive up the canyon was good for all but one. Craven sent me a message that he lost a front wheel bearing on the tow rig and was gonna have to turn around and head back home. From there we made our way to fairplay and met up with Ron(sandblaster). We were to meet with Scott and JW there also but neither showed. Scott had told Jeff he was most likely wasn't going to make it. We waited around till 8:15 and then headed up towards the trail head.
Once at the trailhead/montgomery res. we all unloaded and locked em, aired down, and set off.
Right away you cross under the magnolia mill. Very cool setting.
Pit stop up about 2/3's of the way up.
From there I have no pics till the top.
After lunch at the top it was time to head back down. Was really uneventful. I know I put a nice dent in the new 23gal gas tank.
Thats it. once we hit the bottom we all loaded up and hit the road. Was a great time. These pics are from Willie, and Mick.

Thanks for sharing Rob (and Willie, Mick)! Cool scenic shots, but any action shots out there?
Looks like you did meet up with JW after all??

No we did not meet up with JW. that blue bronco is sandblaster's. As we were leaving fairplay I did see JW's on the trailer at the western inn. There was someone standing out there by it when we drove by. I honked at em.

That would explain the CO plate. Guess I should have looked first!

Great trip! I really liked the trail. Thanks for letting me join in the fun. I'm excited for the next one.
I think casadejohnson's wife took a few action pics.

Beautiful pics. Did anyone throw a fly or lure in that lake? See any risers?

Re: Wheeler Lake 8-16-14
That was my EB on the trailer at the Western Inn. We went up the Mt. Bross trail on Friday and my transmission (C4) started burping fluid. I kept filling it from my spare bottle but finally ran out and it wouldn't shift. Ugh had to be towed off the mountain by my buddy's Rubicon and that ended the Bronco's wheeling in Colorado for this year. It's a bad o-ring behind the torque convertor. We did have five good days of wheeling before it broke. Breakneck and Brown's Pass, Mosquito Pass to Leadville and return trip on Weston Pass and other trails near Fairplay. Those are some great pics above. We could see the start of Wheeler Lake trail and the lake from top of Mt. Bross. Hated missing you guys but wait 'til next year.
