I'm in need of volunteers at Roxborough State Park
Want to give back to your state parks? Need to fulfill volunteer hours for school or court appointed hours? I have a job for you.
I have a special project that was approved and it involves moving some large vehicle sized storage tanks to a consolidation location so I can recycle them and donate the funds to the park. I also need to clean up an old dicard pile and consolidate building material.
We will be able to access an area of the park that is usually restricted to park only vehicles with our Broncos.
Why use our Broncos you ask? Well the one tank will need to be loaded up in an off road utility trailer (read that as my Bronco Trailer). The other tanks will need to be rigged up so we can move them; one is in a stream, so we'll need to use a winch.
I'd like to get four able body folks as a minimum.
****UPDATE****
Nov 16th is our day to make this happen, the weather looks decent with sun and 40's for the forecast. We'll meet at 6149 Roxborough Dr, Littleton, CO 80125, which is the fire station just outside of the park entrance, they have a decent sized parking lot and you'll see me in the bronco. The meeting time will be 8am and I'd expect us to be done well before noon.
The major items to get done are the following. - Remove one medium sized tank from a back country homestead called Mountain Jeannie - Pick up a trash area at the same property (mostly old tin cans) - Pull out a large diesel storage tank from a stream on the Sundance homestead - Relocate an even larger tank from the same property, not in a stream
Items to bring - Appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, I'd say boots and gloves for your protection as well - Containers to consolidate the tin cans, I have 4 old trash cans, but we could use more - A tarp or two could be useful - Rigging if you have some, I'll have a couple of straps and D rings but could likely use more to safely get the larger tanks moved - Food & water
What not to bring - Pets, the park doesn't allow any - Your nice truck, the backcountry property road is not maintained or cleared, serious Colorado pin stripping will likely happen - Any type of 2wd vehicle, the access road is a graded dirt road, but the back country road isn't and if weather comes in you'll like find yourself in trouble
Thank you to all those willing to help.

Re: I'm in need of volunteers at Roxborough State Park
With enough notice I'd be willing to take a day off work. Also, for the tanks that need to be recovered I'd be willing to bring out the oxy-acetylene to get them into bite size chunks.

I should be able to make it. There is a small chance that I'll have to drop out at the last minute if my wife has to go out of town.

I think I can make Nov. 9th work if we are doing it that early and will be finished by lunchish time.

9th is probably a no go for me, but the 16th might just work

Just got the word today that I'm getting a new project from work. I am leaving for Michigan next week and will be there for a couple of weeks. Can't make this one.

If I can get the radiator pulled this weekend and the hole fixed I could be there.

I might be able to provide some human power to this cause. Ride down with Zoso if he gets the Bronco reassembled..

Re: I'm in need of volunteers at Roxborough State Park
Consider me confirmed.
If this week's forecasted snow stays around, this might be our first snow bashing trip for the season.
AWESOME !

I am 50-50. Heading to New Mexico tomorrow to take care of some extended family stuff. I am supposed to be back on Thursday or Friday but with family one never really knows.
I will text you if I am going to make it.

So two confirmed and one maybe?
Looks like it'll be colder than expected, high 20's, at least we'll have sunshine.
