what gear ratio are you running and what size tires?and why?and do you like it?

I had 4.11s and 35s. Liked it, but would have wanted lower gears off road if I didn't have a np435.

4.10's and 33's with the auto. Seems to do good on road and off road. Would like a little lower rpm on the highway but it cruises just fine with plenty of power at 60-65.

If you are going to drive it on the highway, the most important thing is what RPM you are running at about 65 mph. With a mostly stock 302 motor you want to run roughly between 2400 & 2700 RPM. It puts you in a RPM range that gets goodish gas mileage, and adequate power to accelerate & pass when needed. I've run 4.10s with 33s, a highway RPM about 2700. I had lots of passing power, but the motor was running at a fairly high RPM, and was loud. I now run 3.50s with 33, with a highway RPM about 2300. I don't have enough power to pass, and really have to think ahead when approaching hills. Sometimes I'm downshifting to maintain speed up steeper hills. But the truck cruises along just fine, its quiteter, and probably gets a little better MPG. Somewhere in between would be a sweet spot, maybe 3.73s. But there is no perfect gear, its all about compromise. The best thing to do is play with a gearing calculator. I like this one here: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/gearing.htmThe calculator labeled "Cruising RPM" is the one you want. Most transmissions (C4s) are a 1:1 ratio in the highest gear, unless you want an overdrive trans, like a ZF or 4R70W, they are a 1: 0.75ish high gear.

I run a stock 5.0, 33" tires, 4R70w, and 4:88 gears.
For me this is the sweetest compromise for how I use my rig.
Driving on the hiway, I can comfortably run anywhere between 60 and 75 mph with the engine running between 2300 and 2900 rpm (or thereabouts). Nice power and not too loud. Gets what I consider to be great gas mileage (17-18 hiway mpg) considering we drive metal bricks.
On the trail, I can put the tranny and transfer case in low and creep along nicely. No longer have to ride the brakes like when I had 3:50 gears. I also have a slight benefit by way of a hybrid transfer case (lower gears from t style case).
The only thing I still need to change is some of the shift points on the transmission. When I drive around town it shifts into 3rd and overdrive way too early.

4.56s and 35s with a ZF5 trans
If I didn't have OD, I would run 4.10s
I want comfortable cruising RPM on the highway, but still have some snap. 4.10s would be better for mileage and 4.88s for balls-out performance.

I am running 4.56 on 35's with a zf as well on my 69. Been great so far
Running stock 3.50 gears on the 76 with 30" tires and it could use a little deeper gears.. thinking of going to 4.10's and going to 31" tires...
