Dear Idiot Driver-

I just wanted to say thank you, Idiot Driver in the white dually Fork work truck, who nearly totaled my car today. In case you didn't see what happened, I'll fill you in...
We were driving towards Boulder on US 36 and just west of McCaslin today about 3:40, you in the right lane and me about to pass you in the left lane, when your truck lost something. An empty Home Depot Homer bucket. How do I know it was a Homer bucket? Well, thats because it flew out of your bed and into my lane. Don't worry, it didnt hit my windshield or anything, because I drove over it before it had a chance to bounce. I considered dodging it by hitting you or the wall but decided my little Mazda 3 would fare better just going over it.
Well, very shortly after I failed dodging your bucket at 75mph, I could tell it was stuck under my car. It pushed me towards the Jersey barrier but I decided the right shoulder would be a safer place to stop. Well, I had passed you at this point and put my signal on to start making my way to the right shoulder to remove your lost property from under my car. You must of been so upset about loosing your bucket that you didn't see my flasher because you matched my speed for a while until I slowed to about 50mph to get behind you.
I feel really bad about not getting your "Hows my driving" number and letting you know that I was able to get the remains of your bucket out from under my car and left it sitting for you in the grass off of US 36. It didnt fare well I'm afraid, but if it makes you feel any better, neither did my undercarriage protector. It is hanging by a metal strap that I am unable to cut here at work and will have to try and secure it to limp my way home at 4am. I have basic tools but never thought I would need metal shears in my trunk. Live and learn I guess.
Anyway - I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss.

Those work trucks with all the nicknacks and doodads hanging loose scare the hell out of me. They seem like an accident waiting to happen.

I'm on board with you. We live on the street with the only place to take branches/etc. These guys never put a tarp over it or any sort of strapping down (Fall is fun...watch yourself in Ft. Collins). I continually pick up their debris. Every time we see this I mention it to my wife. Washington state imposed a huge fine and threat of jail sentence after a couple of people died... I'm all for it...
