Re: project viperwolfe is starting
Went to the wrecking yard to find a timing cover, upper intake and some other assorted parts. I got the intake and assorted parts. Timing cover was held solid with the two bolts that broke and wouldn’t come off in one piece. It wasn’t worth the time to try to pull another so I bought a new one. Once the timing cover is on I can check the timing marks and put the heads on. Test fitting the coil bracket showed that a little work was needed to fit it to the new lower. The legs were easily bent outward for the wider manifold. The top attachment needed to be raised about 1”. I cut a section out and welded the tab back on. Also had to grind some clearance for the fuel rail and heater fitting. 20150129_181557.jpg 20150129_181624.jpg

Lookin' good! I was over at Mike's last night and saw the progress on your body. Your going to have a really nice bronco when it's done.

Re: project viperwolfe is starting
Got the new timing cover and water pump in. Timing cover was Dorman 635-106, made in china of course. Outward appearance is nicer than the factory covers with less rough edges and a smoother casting. The problem area appeared when I tried to use the alignment dowels. The two lower holes are not spaced far enough apart to use both dowels. So I ended up using the one that would allow all the other bolt holes to line up.
No problems with the water pump, Duralast CWP-9047. It's a new pump but it was about $20 cheaper than a rebuilt and a core charge.
Got it all on and verified the balancer timing then added the timing tape. Had to get creative to find a way to attach the degree wheel with the balancer and water pump in the way. 20150131_194639.jpg 20150131_194653.jpg 20150131_200409.jpg

Sweet! I guess I'll add another update. Your PCM is done and tested, your harness is stuck at 99.9999 percent completion until I can swing by the boneyard for 1 little clip.

It's an NRT1 (the most common 98 code). Or, you can use EDS0, EDS1 EDS2, PCC1, MCR0, MCR1, MCR2.

A little more progress. I blinged out the upper manifold and built an engine transport and storage fixture. 20150203_170239.jpg 20150206_180007.jpg

"Here's a casual teaser shot of a ZF I have."
Looking good for sure. I need to get me one of those obsessive tendencies towards garage cleanliness and organization.

Re: project viperwolfe is starting
Can't afford to until I stop bleeding from my wallet, I mean finish putting this Bronco together.
Got some plug wires installed. Started on the 4R70W. Looks good inside. Nothing broke but I can still make some improvements. 20150214_151239.jpg 20150214_175503.jpg
