Post Weld picture thread
I'm thinking this thread should be used to show off your welds and ask for feedback if you want it. Pirate can get pretty brutal, especially for some people new to welding. Let's use this thread to ask for anyone to get constructive feedback on their welds or to show off their welds. If you are seeking feedback please say so in your post, if you're just looking to show off your welds just say so.

Post Re: Weld picture thread
I'll start. Feedback please! I've tig welded all of 2 hours this evening and am still very new to it. There is a definite learning curve to it. I've tigged once before for all of 45 minutes previously so I am brand new to it and willing to listen to any feedback. Attached is my last weld of the evening.

What exactly are you welding in this picture? Thickness of material and settings used, por favor.

Tough to tell from that angle. It looks good overall, but my tig beads tend to sit down more than that. I've got about as much experience as you, however, so take that with a tiny, tiny grain of salt. It'd be worth posting some additional beads up at Welding Web.

Danke. I don't have a TIG set up, but if I were to ever buy one seeing some results and being able to put settings to them would help out greatly I am sure.

They look pretty good. I would say slow down a bit to help form those dimes. Most beginners haul ass. Any pictures of the inside to see penatration?

Here are some of mine. Most of mine are painted now though. The first two are my weld samples to prove the tube will break before the weld even if it is bad weld by my standard, and to make sure I had good penetration.

Finally grabbed a couple pics of the inside of the tubing. Looks pretty good. A little hot as I thought.

Ok, I've been practicing with the new welder. Tweco (aka Thermal Arc) Fabricator 211i. Welding some scrap 1x1 which I believe is 16ga. Wire speed was 184 and Amps was 15.8 with Inductance at 8. A little cold for 16ga but a little hot for 18ga. I won't show you the other three sides. I think I should have run it closer to the 16ga to begin with as when I did this, the metal was hot from the other three sides. From looking inside, I can see I got good penetration as well. I've been testing making "bread loafs" on 1/8" plate with the suggested settings and getting good pen there too. Now to start welding up a cart before I tackle some sheetmetal.

It's tough to be 100% sure without destructive testing. I'd cut in half and see how it looks. From the external appearance I'd say you're in the ballpark. Not bad for just a little practice.
