Fires and runs but won't re-start
When it gets hot
Drews rig. 4.9l FI. Sat most of the winter getting some wiring and other fun stuff done to it. Then a few months ago died at the gas station. Figured "perfect timing, right?" Added gas and no re-start. Towed her home and puttered around a bit. Fired up. Drove it to the breakfast in Sedalia, over heated on the way and she would not restart. Had it towed home. New radiator and some other fun stuff...
Dan and his pal took her for a spin once I got her back together, brought her home and wouldn't restart to put her away. Pushed her into the driveway and promptly ignored her for 2 weeks. Thought I would take her to the breakfast this weekend, fired right up yesterday. Let it idle for a bit to get hot. Shut her down, then no re-start. Let her cool, fires right up
She will crank and almost fire, just does not seem to catch. Seems like if you keep her running, she is fine but if you shut her down, won't restart till cool
Advice (besides "well just don't shut it off")?
Mostly just want this one running and driving reliably so I can get back to work on Wilma, and I can drive it while I build her, but I want to be done dumping serious cash into it.
Thanks

Re: Fires and runs but won't re-start
sounds like your not getting either spark , or fuel, one or the other. to narrow it down quickly, you might try a shot of either. if it fires , you know it isn't an ignition problem.

TFI? I don't know your 4.9L ignition system. Sounds like the TFI problems I've heard about & I had a similar problem with a MSD magnetic pick up inside a dizzy.

Does the distributor have a module on the side of it? I had a f150 in college and it did the same thing. Run good when cold but when it warmed up it would die.
