Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
It's painted! Garage door should be going in today along with all the little stuff needed before inspection tomorrow. Electrical starts Friday. I've got the insulation scheduled to be delivered Friday morning and will, dependant on electrical completion, be insulating and paneling starting Saturday morning.

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
The garage door is in! It was difficult to install due to the way I wanted the tracks. The door raises up an extra 18 inches or so before it goes back in to the garage. This way, when the door is open, I will have about 11 feet of clearance under it rather than just the 9 feet it would normally have. The door will be painted the Grey color to blend in a little better. Inspection should still be done tomorrow. I have no doubt everything will pass with flying colors!

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
Just waiting on an inspector to free up 2 minutes of their time to come check one little detail and sign the final inspection and we can finish it up. Looks like it probably won't happen until Tuesday unfortunately. It is complete save for the electrical, insulation and paneling. We have everything needed for all of that but can't put it in until that dumb little signature is there.

Looking good. Sucks you can't use this long weekend to start working on all the other stuff...

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
I was really hoping to use the long weekend to work on it but there just is no pushing government workers these days. Here is a pic of my truck in it for reference on the size. My truck is a 3/4 ton, extended cab, long bed. In the pic there is my new tool box behind the truck and the tailgate is open. I have 2.5 feet between the open tailgate and the front of the toolbox, 2.5 between the front of the truck and the garage door, 9 feet from the right of the truck to the wall and 13 feet from the left of the truck to the wall. Feels nice and big.

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
Well the inspection was finally completed today. So Trei came over and roughed in all of the electrical. I have 4 20 amp 4 plug outlets on each of the walls, 1 220v outlet dedicated to the compressor, 1 220v outlet in the ceiling for the eventual 2 post lift, 1 50 amp 220v outlet on the back wall, 1 220v outlet on the right wall, 1 220v outlet in the back right upper corner for an eventual heater, 6 4 plug outlets in the ceiling for lights and drop downs and 2 outside lights. I'll be insulating and paneling tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it done soon so Trei can come back and install all the outlets, swap out my house main box and run the main power to the garage. Should be plenty of electrical!

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
I haven't updated this in a while but I've still been working on the garage. It seems everything takes a while when you're working almost completely alone. I have completed the insulation, paneling, painting and hung 3 lights so far. Still needs more lights but 3 are a decent start. Hoping tomorrow will bring the finish electrical and I can begin to move in. Still going to fill the cracks in the floor and seal it before I move stuff in.

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
Well I've begun moving into the new garage! Still waiting on some electrical details that should be resolved next week. Until then I've moved most of my equipment in. Building a simple shelf for the stereo tomorrow to get that installed and store my new transmission jack under it along with my engine stand. A couple other small things to go in it and it will be ready for some projects. I have my wife's karmann ghia along with my bronco in it as far as vehicles go and there is quite a bit of room in it still.

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
Well the garage/shop is all done. I've put everything in it including my bronco and my wife's karmann ghia project. I completed my first small project in it tonight. It is very nice to have a big and bright area to work inside. Next on the list is a 2 post lift. Once I get that installed I'll plumb all the air lines where I want them and put up a few more lights. I may be able to host the next bronco tech day if people are interested.
I used my welding table to support my bronco while I worked underneath it on the small project I did on it tonight. Worked perfectly and did not put up any protest with the weight. Got it up nice and high. Won't need to do that again once I get my lift but it's nice to know I can.

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
The garage is definitely getting used like it should. I've gotten back to work on my wife's karmann ghia and have made some solid progress on that. I brought my brothers bronco over to install his rampage top, oil pan, fix some starting/charging issues and a bunch of little things too. It is nice to be able to park his bronco in the garage with my bronco and the karmann ghia and still have room to open both doors completely to work on it. All without disturbing the attached 2 car garage on the house. Still need to get my lift and plumb my air lines but I've added more lights and am satisfied with the lighting, for now.

Re: Bronco garage build has begun!
My neighbor has a two post lift in his garage he's been talking about selling. I can inquire about what he might be asking for it if you want.

That would be awesome! Also how old it is, weight capacity and what brand and model it is if it's not too much trouble. Thanks!

If I can stand to talk to him for that long, I'll ask all those questions.
