My house has a secondary furnace up in the attic that is 15 years old and is currently out of commission due to a bad circuit board. It's looking like it will cost enough to repair that I might consider a new unit. The furnace I have is not very big (45,000 BTU ). What should that cost to replace? My first quote is a shade over $3500 for a comparable unit to what I have. The quoted setup also includes the A/C coil installed with it so I can add Air Conditioning down the road. Is this a reasonable figure? I am told high efficiency furnaces will not work for this application because my attic is not insulated. Is that true? I looked into sprayed foam insulation and it's
expensive. Advice appreciated.
