DSO Codes?
I just took a look at my VIN plate and noticed the DSO code was 89. The EB VIN decoders say that's "transportation services." Has anyone ever seen that code or have anymore info on DSO codes? Thanks!

I know the codes changed throughout the yeas for whatever reason. Here is a good link http://broncohio.com/tech/ebvins.html

Re: DSO Codes?
Yeah I looked at the BroncOhio VIN decoder and that's where I saw transportation services. I found thread over on CB.com and it sounds like that DSO code was for dealer demos, or test vehicles of some kind. I can't get a Marti Report since it's a '66. Guess I might be having a title history search done soon.

Re: DSO Codes?
And holly chit. 1st day of production, & 89 code could be pretty valuable, considering the thread said only 5% made it out on the market.

Re: DSO Codes?
It's cool but it all adds to the weirdness of the story. I was curious about the history before, now I'm really curious. In researching the options available in '66 and comparing notes with Gunni's research, it was basically fully loaded. Visors, chrome, lockout hubs, the works. I couldn't find a ton of info on DSO 89 as far as Broncos go, just that little tidbit on that '76 and some info on Mustangs with the same. The specific vehicle history around the Ford "special use" company transportation vehicles wasn't recorded, not that it still exists for the anything 1966 or older anyway. They varied from executive demos to engineering prototypes I guess. So that may remain a mystery. Question is, how did it end up in Grand County?

Re: DSO Codes?
Could be. There is also a little Ford dealership in town there. Could've been sent there as some kind of showcase or something? It was my impression the family that bought it originally bought it new from there, but I have no way to verify that, just word of mouth.

Re: DSO Codes?
Maybe Marvin Heemeyer bought it new? Now that would be some history!
