Prairie grass fires from last week. My wife was driving through as this was happening and said it was very smokey.



Made it to my in-laws around dinner time. Despite my best guess, going up two jet sizes wasn't enough and I was getting a little pinging on long hills around 1500 ft. So my FIL and I pulled the carb apart and did a jet swap, then put the truck away for the night.



Wrenching works up an appetite, so a snack was in order.

Found a puddle and broken hose clamp at the last gas stop. Two zip ties later and all is "good enough".

Ill be a day later. Lost the rear pinion seal south of KC. Looks like the "new" pinion yoke was responible. Axle is torn apart and appears undamaged, so fixing the problem and will set out again tomorrow morning.

Really bummed to be losing a day, but Im glad it wasnt the transmission.
