Black Smoke Donkey
It's not finished yet, I picked up some left over hardtop pieces from Don's yard a while back that will allow me to make a 4 door "1/2 cab." Should be pretty slick when I'm done.
I also need to rework a bulkhead I have to make a nice closure with the lift gate.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
So it'll be like a Hummer truck with a removable top and liftgate to get into the cab?

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
The Hummer's swappable parts has always inspired my build plans. If I stay on track I'll have 3 different top styles and two door styles.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
It's been way too long since I put anything in this thread.
I was able to sneak away weekend before last and do little camping, fishing & shooting with my youngest. I was itching to try out a couple of additions, the ARB awning & room kit were very nice. Good times.

Quick overnight up by Mt Evans while attending a trail design course. At this pace I may get in two camping trips a month this summer.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
The eventual has happened, I was going to reinforce this area when I did my D60 swap.

Two bolts broke & the third ripped through the frame, I'm curious which failed 1st, bolts or frame. A loud pop preceded the mayhem.
I'm happy that 2 of the 4 bolts that I used to secure my winch to the frame were Grade 8 & the right size so I could limp home.

Black Smoke Donkey
If only I had it in the Bronco at the time, it was suppose to be a nice easy get away with the pup. It'll ride along from now on.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
It was a slow speed event, I was backing up the trail to take a different spur. I was at full steering wheel lock in a rut with the pop up camper on the back and in 4x4 low.
I repaired the frame last night and cut the pieces for the plate reinforcement. I did notice that one of the cracks had rust along the break so this area was weak and ripe for failure.

Black Smoke Donkey
Back from hunting, sadly no elk in the cooler, but my boys and I had a great time. It's the 1st time we all hunted big game together, we pushed into the back country with backpacks and got away from the crowds for a couple of days.
BSD got its usual workout, luckily no problems this year. I ran it over the scales on my way back home and hit 9865 lbs combined weight loaded. Split out the weight and the Bronco was 6605 lbs, trailer was 3360 lbs, and ~ 580 lbs of tongue weight. The 4bt I have is rated for 10,000 lbs, so I'm done adding weight, mostly. Except for those axles I plan on installing.
I'm really happy that I run mud tires, they don't get used very often, but man they saved my bacon this last week. I wish I had video of the slick hill I pulled to get out of hunt camp, the smile on my face was priceless.
Below pic is what the rear tires kicked up onto the trailer.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
Sorry to hear you didn't get your elk, but I know it was way worth it spending time with your sons! And congrats on a successful trip in the bronco! I am glad that it's working out for you!
Nice Beard!!!

Sorry to hear about no elk, but glad you still got to get out and enjoy the time with your boys! The bronco is looking awesome and sounds like it's accomplished everything you want it to with ease!

Bronco tow truck setups are always cool, I’d love it if BSD had a gas station logo on the door like Shawn’s Junkyard Dog!
