Re: Best day ever!
I've been thinking of different engine swaps lately... And since I bleed diesel, I think the same engine that is in my wife's X5 would be awesome! I think the 3.5l inline 6 would fit fine, but I am not sure how large the 8spd auto is. But it would make a great package!! Quiet, plenty of power, diesel, but wow it would take someone with a lot of know-how to pull it off!

Re: Best day ever!
I'm curious to see how the recent crop of small v6 diesels in the grand Cherokee and Nissan pickups looks once they get old enough to start turning up in junkyards. If the engine management can get figured out they could be a great option.

Re: Best day ever!
Yes, and I think they would have plenty of punch to deliver the power! My dream would be a LUBR with a nice diesel in it so I could DD it!

Re: Best day ever!
Didn't someone say the 5.0L Cummins V8 was being used in boats already?
Engine management would seem well on the way.

That newfangled diesel stuff is expensive. How about just turbocharged V8?

Re: Best day ever!
When you say you need a windshield, are you talking about glass or frame? I thought the other frame that came with it looked to be pretty good. Windshield glass is over rated anyway. The glass in my 66 has been broken for 7-8 years now.

If you can wait a little, RuffStuff usually has a sale for Black Friday. That's where I got my TRE parts.

Re: Best day ever!
It may be that the bell and plate are for two different size flywheels. One for 164 tooth and one for 157. Bolt holes (except starter) and dowel holes will match but starter is in different location.

I have a starter or two that will work but my proximity to you may be prohibitive. If you don't find a closer one, let me know.

Re: Best day ever!
I think I have an extra manual starter laying around if you need it. I also have a spare 3 speed still under Bronco #2 if it comes to that. I'm sure someone has one just laying around.

Re: Best day ever!
I should be around tonight...give me a holler. I think you have my number. If not, I can leave it on the back patio for pickup on Thursday...I won't be around then.

I found an engine block that would be a torque monster. Might have to move the firewall back to the tailgate though.
