At this time I would not recommend my painter. if he takes care of some of
the issues I have with the paint then I would recommend him. all I can say Is no matter who paints for you . you need to make sure you get it all in Righting !!! what the painters jobs is and how long its gonna take and what your part is in the whole thing . you also need to make sure the painter has the same or higher standers than yourself . BUYER BEWARE !!!!!!!!!! talk to them and make sure they know what you want and what you expect .
PAINT IS NOT CHEAP!!!!!!!

Excellent advice! My poor dad has a hand-shake agreement on body work and paint for his old power wagon. Initially the shop said it would take 6 months of "spare time" to get it done. That was nearly 4 years ago and he's just gotten back the cab and bed in Dec. Still waiting on fenders.

You might also outline what penalties there are for not completing on time?

I hope you can work the details out with your painter.

Small mistakes can cost a lot to redo. I've seen a wide range of what is 'acceptable' to give back to the customer. It's easy to take in the big picture when you pick up the truck, and be impressed until you start looking closely at the details.

If things don't get done to your satisfaction, post up the problems and I'll try to help you understand what it will take to fix them.

Good luck.

I use to do my own painting!!! the shop I started in had 3 years in a row tri state auto show 1st place wins for paint. my son has a 2 year degree in auto paint. so we know. that's the problem is we know what it supposed to be like . I would have painted but had 2 heart attack in 20019 in june and in oct and wanted to see it done . and what is acceptable by other people is mind blowing . so he'll will fix it or will go to court. I have no choice . thank for the offer to help though.

the thing to do is ad a Monterrey penalty in the contract for every week there over . it could be 50.00 or higher every week there over . if there are unseen body work or other thing you could not see in the bidding of the work and they need or want more money go and look at what is going on . go by and see how things are going from time to time. YOU ARE THE BOSS!!!!!!!! if at any time you don't like what see load it up and take it back. and NEVER PAY MORE THAN 1/2 as a down payment . I got a 500.00 discount by paying 1/2 cash down . AND NEVER PAY TILL YOUR HAPPY WITH THE JOB NEVER. POST DATE THE CHECK for 3 days even 1 day . till you can see the truck at you own place . it is over whelming when you 1st see the truck . the best thing for you guys take your wife's if you spent the money I did your wife will be looking at in a way different way than you are hahahahahaha or take some one that can look at with objectivity . and the excitement will make you miss a whole lot .

Right on, I guess you don't need my help. Sounds like you know exactly what to look for. Good luck.
