I am going to change from the lap seat belt to a shoulder / lap belt in both Broncos. Does any one have a like or dislike on the belt systems out there. Not only from the Bronco venders but other sources as well.
My wife and her dog were in a bad accident yesterday .She is more purple than fleshy color now. She got away with a broken hand. The dog was seat belted in the back seat and she also has some bruising but they both walked away. The car will be totaled. The woman that made the illegal left turn in front of her then left the scene of the accident. One of the witness's chased her down until the police came. She got to go jail, oh yes she has no insurance.
I love my old cars and will not stop driving them but I now have so much more appreciation for how the newer cars take up the impact to decrease the hit the drivers take.

So that is why I am going to change seat belts.

Mine came from 4wheel parts and I've been very happy with them. Good quality and less expensive than the vendors, although that was 5+ years ago. Glad everyone is OK!

I got some surplus Humvee 3 point belts for under $30 on Ebay. I like them thus far. I got them from this guy:

Same as Toolman bought a set of hummer 3 point seat belts and welded bungs for the shoulder bolts into my cage.

I bought the Hummer belts. How high did you mount the shoulder bung?
Getting these into the 1/2 cab with full cage is going to be tight but if it was easy to do jeep guys would have EB's

Shoulder bung should be just above the level of your shoulder.

I did 33-34" from the floor...but I'm a taller dude.

And make sure you mount the 'belt canister' (not sure what else to call it) perpendicular to the floor. Otherwise it will not like letting the belt out.

Did you use all the other stuff in that "kit"? Seems like you'd only need the belts and bolts/nuts.

When mounting it perpendicular, the belt comes out the top. The hole can't line up with the floor hole? Did you attach it to the cage or use an angle bracket?

X2 on the perpendicular mounting of the retract thingy. Otherwise it won't pull or retract.

I only used the belts and retractable thingy and nuts and bolts. I can take a picture as Jason can of our setups if it helps

I have a kit from one of the big vendors. Can't remember which. It was a bit pricy but it works well.

I can't do pics of mine right now...everything is out due to cage build.

I think I bolted the retracty thingy 3" from the floor plate and then go 34" from the floor plate to drill a hole for the shoulder thing. You have to drill a tiny hole for the retractor to keep in from spinning. And I just used the stock bolt holes for the eyelet at the end of the belt and the inboard clip. The bolts included in the kit should screw directly into the existing retained nuts in the floor.
