Young Johnny comes home from school looking frustrated so his dad asks him "What seems to be the problem, son?"

Johnny replies, "Dad, today in school we talked about theory and reality and I just don't get it."

Dad says, "Johnny, let me see if I can help you out. I want you to go up stairs and ask your mother if she would have sex with a complete stranger for one million dollars."

Johnny looks confused, but follows his dad's instructions. Upstairs he finds his mother reading a book, "Mom, would you have sex with a complete stranger for one million dollars?"

Johnny's mom, shocked at first, considers the proposition. "Well Johnny, with one million dollars we could pay off the house, send you and your sister off some of the best colleges in the country, and your father and I could probably retire comfortably. Yes Johnny, I would do it."

Johnny goes back downstairs and tells his dad the answer. His dad then sends Johnny to his sister to ask the same questions.

Johnny goes to his sister's room and gives her the same proposal.

Johnny's sister mulls it over. "With a million dollars" she says, "I could leave this crummy town and travel the world. I'd get to wear whatever clothes I want, party with celebrities, and live like a rock star. Yes Johnny, I'd do it."

Johnny goes back down stairs and tells his dad.

Johnny's dad looks over his newspaper and says "You see Johnny, that's the difference between theory and reality. In theory, we're sitting on top of two million dollars. In reality, we're living with a couple of whores."
