Painting wheels
I bought the Wheel Vintiques wheels that are stock look alikes. The have a primer or epoxy on them. Question is do I scuff then and shoot or should I put another coat of primer first?
Second question is single stage or base then clear? Leaning toward single for the ability to touch up.
Last question, any good paint stores on the North end? Trying to get to painter supply down south is really difficult.
Thanks!

Re: Painting wheels
Should be able to scuff, (clean) & shoot. I'd go with single stage for simplicity. I did single stage on my rims almost 10 years ago and they are still good.

Painting wheels
I blasted some Steel wheels, used spray can etching primer then rustoleum white, then clear. They have held up surprising well for two years so far.

Re: Painting wheels
Thanks guys. I'll get to scuffing them this weekend. Can't decide between Wimbledon. White or Argent silver/gray. Argent is what my original stock wheels are so I'm leaning towards that.

Re: Painting wheels
I remember reading something about wheel colors and the argent wheels were only on the last few years (don't remember which years). 75 might have been the first year after the switch from Wimbledon white.

Re: Painting wheels
Sprayed four coats of color and three of clear. Feel like they came out pretty good. I'm getting better with the rattle can. Used VHT wheel paint and clear. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
