Re: 'Buddy'
After 43 years, the parchment rear mat came out in one piece. Lots ‘o Texas farm dirt and a little surface rust underneath but I don’t think any of it is too serious.

Re: 'Buddy'
that isn't even the same Bronco, no where near enough garage space to store all the stuff that was stuffed in Buddy

Re: 'Buddy'
I wanted to plumb in an auxiliary transmission cooler to help the stock cooler in the radiator. Got one off an Explorer but the factory mount wouldn’t work without some cutting/welding. I found these antenna brackets and thought they might work. Turns out they were perfect. The larger hole fit right onto the cooler and allowed me to mount the cooler to the core support. Next up is tying the cooler into the return line to the C4.

Re: 'Buddy'
I installed the BC media console and mounted my rear view mirror to it. I like that it is out of the way and the wiring is now run behind the cover. I’ve got some sun visors that are going to mount to the bottom as well.
I also mounted a USB charging port under the dash.

Re: 'Buddy'
Nice work Tim! How do you like the speaker sound on the overhead console? I've been thinking of doing something similar.

Re: 'Buddy'
I hooked up the stereo just to make sure it all worked Saturday. I haven’t had a chance to balance the sound or listen to it over the engine/exhaust, but initial impressions are good. Eventually there will be speaker cans on the roll cage in the back too. I like the media console a lot. It has a dome light I connected to the factory wiring so it works off the headlight switch, and it’s MUCH brighter than the stock light. You can do a lot with it.

Re: 'Buddy'
Complete disclosure, I stole this idea from TJ.
Grabbed some of the rear seats from police explorers and used 2 of the smaller seat to make a new back seat.
Started with the stock explorer seats and a very 70’s bronco bench from Phil Gilbeau. Took the mounting brackets off the explorer seats and cut the armrest and back supports off the bronco bench. To attach some steel angle to the front and back, I had to cut off the lip that runs along the front and back of the stock frame. Bolted the frame to the bottoms of the new seats and mounted it up. They’re really comfortable compared to the stock rear seat, but so are a lot of things.

Re: 'Buddy'
No, the police explorers do not get rear headrests. If you could find a couple of consumer models that have been wrecked, you could get nicer buckets. They would mount the same way because the frames underneath are the same.
