exciting day
I picked up my 289 block, crank , and parts kit from Ridge Reamer today. Just like Ikea, some assembly required!

Does your horn ring have "Product of Ford Motor Company" on it? If so, take good care of it. It's a 66 only thing and the 66 horn ring is very rare. Also, I would love to see pics of your rear view mirror, they are also very rare. Love your truck!

The Broncos produced after November 1965 got the normal Ford grill. The eyebrow grills were stamped by Budd Manufacturing, who supplied the first batch of sheet metal parts to Ford to get the production up and running. As that supply ran out it was replaced with Ford stamped sheet metal. October 65 the Budd hoods seemed to run out, November 65 the eyebrow grills switched to Ford grills. I don't have a handle on the timing of the switch over for other parts, there isn't a lot of info. Many parts probably didn't get switched on a specific date, and the transition from Budd to Ford was probably 'phased' in. RT9's 67 U14 was built October of 66, and has some Budd floor pans if I remember correctly. The Budd tailgates seem to have lasted well into the 67 model year.
I'd love to see your truck, but about 1.5 years ago I moved to northern Nevada. Selling my 66 to Kinder was part of that process. It still pains me a bit, but I know it's in good hands and it will be returned to it's original 66 glory (oddity). After I stumbled on that truck, I got sucked into all the 66 mumbo jumbo and started the 66 Wikki page to put it on paper, get other's input, etc. I'm happy looking at all the pics you want to post and I'll answer anything I can.
There are a few great 66's in the club. Jeremy (casadejohnson) has an early built U14, Scott (ScottBarnes) has a wonderful U13, and colby has a very early built U15 as well. All those trucks are being kept as-is, or are slowly being put back to original condition. I think that is important especially for our odd-ball 66s. Lots of 66-77 Broncos are still being highly modified, which is fine, but I think the rarities should be kept or returned to original. I have a 72 Explorer Sport with a rare paint color & original paint that I will be keeping originalish. I had to decide between keeping the 66 and the 72 when I moved. It was a tough decision, but I ended up keeping the 72 because it will make a good 'patina' truck with less work than it would take to return the 66 to original condition.
The early 66/67 seats use a Mustang foam and upholstery that had a thinner seat back than the Bronco. The Mustang passenger seat back folds leaning the opposite way the Bronco seat did, because of how a person would enter/exit the back seat of the Mustang compared to the Bronco. I can't remember the details & it's hard to describe in words.
