Just a thought about scheduling. It's currently snowing in Tahoe right now. This is the 3rd September I've been here and the second where we've had rain/snow here around the middle of September. I know there is no perfect schedule for everyone and never a guarantee it won't snow or rain. If we do this in September we need to be prepared for the possibility of snow. I don't think a little snow is going to scare off Colorado Classic Broncos though.

A pic from Donner pass right now

I am open to moving the date, earlier in September would be best - August would be tough as I plan on racing the Vegas to Reno race in mid August in my Bronco and thats a long haul there and back... twice. But who knows. My idea was to give everyone time to prep but I know 90% of you will wait until the last minute anyway :)

I open to whatever but would like to set a date.

For me, I would like it to be before school starts so I can bring my kids on this adventure of a lifetime.

Having said that, school starts so dang early (early August) that might not be to the group's liking ?

That seems like a good time frame and early enough to beat snow.

Does anyone know if they require permits, fees, etc. to run the trail?

I do not believe so, I haven't heard anything about fees. I went to the Tahoma side trail head after I moved here and there were no signs indicating fees or permits required. I'll be sure to ask.

Talking to a buddy of mine and he recommends late august early September as that's after all the jeep jamborees and most people are gone.

Unsure of what the dates are for this yet. I figure after the new year we can sit down and get it figured out.

Jeffco starts 8/18. My chances of making it go way up before then. Would still try after, but being gone for a week would be tough.

Saw that. Those are interesting dates for Colorado weather. Also is LEBC considering combining their run with the super celebration?

LEBC is still having our event in Leadville on July 27-31. It's about 6 weeks apart and totally different type of event. LBMR III is primarily a low key wheeling event (not sponsored by vendors) and SC is primarily a show n shine and street cruise event with lots of vendor displays. That said I am sure there will be some wheeling at SC too. Townsend TN is not located close to any good wheeling, but almost anywhere in the CO Rockies will have some great wheeling nearby.

It will be interesting to see how this develops.

Great !

Now we have dates to work our schedules around.

It would be great to have about 10 Colorado Broncos in the group.

And those 10 will join up with Gunni in his Blue Beast !

I'll see what I can do about getting that week off, it shouldn't be a problem.

Is there going to be a cap on the number of participants? I don't think we want a bronco "log jam" but shouldn't exclude anyone.

Thank you for the informative links. I agree with your statement and I didn’t intend my reference to 11 rigs to become a cap. I always have a “the more the merrier” mindset.

I can say that the Baja trip taught me that the larger the group size the more important it becomes to make sure everyone has a capable rig and has a certain level of experience and preparedness.

It appears we have 5 Colorado rigs so far

With another 3 - 5 guys that have shown interest.

This trip will give me the motivation to get some things finished on my rig.
- rock sliders
- winch
- recovery points
- long arms
- get compressor and tank for lockers sorted

Can’t wait !
