New to me 55 f100
Hey everyone. I'm trying to figure out exactly what I have here. Was told it was a Napco conversion, but I'm not sure..Could also be a Marmon Harrington conversion.Or it could be neither.Leaf spring at all four corners and looks to be Dana 44s frt.and rear.If anyone knows about these I'd love to figure it out before I decide what path to take with it. Thanks Jay

Don't know for sure either but, IH Scouts had Dana 44's front and rear and leaf's on all 4 corners. What transfer case is in it? Scouts had Dana 20's too. Might give you somewhere to start. Mark.

That is pretty cool! I don't even know if Ford made a 4x4 back then or if they where all conversions. Might want to check the front axle and see if it has a BOM number, that would possibly tell you what it came from if it was a conversion. Just a caveat, the Scouts didn't get a Dana 44 until the Scout II in '71 or '72.

I think I see a tag on the rear axle that may give you some clue as well, if it's readable. Maybe a part # or Mfg. code that will give a clue which brand of truck it was originally installed in. Mark.

Re: New to me 55 f100
So I haven't had much time to dig into this. But here's what I think is in it.390 fe motor,T98 transmission, Dana 23 or 24 transfer case and Dana 44 front and rear axels.Need to do some investigation on the axles to see what they came out of. The body seems to be in very good condition with only a few small spots of rust on the lower door post.(easy fix)Came with boxes of new parts that I have yet to go through.Should be a nice truck if I dont go to far down the rabbit hole.(Is that possible?)
